UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is trying to compensate for Britain’s domestic problems by focusing on foreign policy and taking a Russophobic stance, said Richard Sakwa, Honorary Professor of Political Science at the University of Kent, in an interview with Sputnik.“It is always much easier to turn to foreign policy, where ready-made answers seem to exist. This is not about distracting the public from domestic issues, but rather a form of compensatory activity by the government itself and by Starmer personally,” Sakwa told the agency on the sidelines of the 22nd Annual Meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club in Sochi.The professor noted that even in the sphere of foreign affairs, Britain’s current leadership continues to follow, at least partly, the line inherited from the previous Conservative government.“Keir Starmer inherited some policies from his predecessors and continued them. He is 100% committed to pursuing the war in Ukraine until a military solution is found. This is why traditional Russophobia has come to the forefront.As for Palestine, Starmer has faced widespread discontent at home due to his uncritical pro-Israeli stance,” the expert stressed.Earlier, Sky News reported that Starmer has become the most unpopular Prime Minister in Britain’s history.
