'Shoulder to Shoulder': India-Russia Ties Mark 25 Years of Strength - Foreign Ministry
This month marks 25 years since the landmark Declaration on Strategic Partnership was signed during the 2000 Russian presidential visit to India — a key moment that transformed Moscow-New Delhi relations, said Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
Built on the foundations of mutual respect, trust, and shared global vision, this partnership evolved further in 2005, when it was elevated to the level of a Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership — a status that also celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, Zakharova stated.
"Over the decades, Russian-Indian relations have flourished, underpinned by robust political dialogue, expanding trade and economic cooperation, and deep cultural and humanitarian links. The two nations also stand shoulder to shoulder on global platforms, promoting a unifying, non-confrontational international agenda," she stressed.
As both countries look to the future, there is unwavering confidence that their enduring friendship will not only advance mutual prosperity, but also contribute to regional and global stability, Zakharova concluded.
