The decision to begin negotiations with Indonesia was made by the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in May 2022.
Negotiations on a free trade agreement (FTA) between Indonesia and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) have been completed, with signing scheduled for late 2025, Indonesian Trade Minister Budi Santoso said in an interview with Sputnik.
"A recent important achievement was the completion of negotiations on a free trade agreement (FTA) between Indonesia and the Eurasian Economic Union. Signing is scheduled for the end of 2025. This agreement will stimulate trade expansion and enhance the economic resilience of both countries in the face of global uncertainty," the minister noted.
According to him, after the introduction of the free trade zone, Indonesian products will also "gain a competitive advantage in the Russian market." Moreover, the agreement will create preferential access to Eurasian markets for Indonesian investors.
