Dushanbe (Sputnik) — Russia and the Central Asian countries are systematically switching to national currencies in trade, President Putin said at the second Russia–Central Asia summit.
Russia remains one of the leading investors in the region.
Putin also said that Russia is firmly committed to further strengthening its strategic partnership and alliance with Central Asian countries.

"Russia is firmly committed to further strengthening strategic partnership and alliance with your states, deepening mutually beneficial political, economic, and humanitarian ties," Putin said at the meeting.

Russia and Central Asia have achieved good results in many areas, and there are good prospects for developing economic relations between the countries, Putin said, adding that trade between Russia and Central Asian countries exceeded $45 billion by the end of 2024.
Putin arrived in Dushanbe late Wednesday for a three-day visit. Earlier that day, he had talks with Tajikistani President Emomali Rahmon and is scheduled to meet with leaders of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
