The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched its heaviest satellite to date, the CMS-03, on Sunday aboard its Launch Vehicle Mark-3 (LVM3-M5).
The rocket lifted off at 5:26 p.m. IST from the second launch pad in Sriharikota, on the coast of the Bay of Bengal in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.
Weighing approximately 4,400 kg, the CMS-03 is now the heaviest communications satellite ever launched into a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit from Indian soil.
