India and Canada Resume Trade Talks After 2-Year Pause

Prime Ministers Mark Carney and Narendra Modi agreed to restart negotiations on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement during the G20 summit in Johannesburg.
According to the statement from India's Prime Minister's Office, the deal aims to double bilateral trade to $50-70 billion by 2030, signaling a thaw in relations after a two-year diplomatic freeze.
Both leaders also reaffirmed civil nuclear cooperation and discussed long-term uranium supply arrangements.
In 2023, Canada accused Modi's government of murdering a leader of the Khalistan separatist movement that Canada and the US shelter on their territories.
