Russia–Mongolia Trade Surges 5% in 2025, Nears $2 Billion: Deputy PM
IRKUTSK (Sputnik) - Trade between Russia and Mongolia grew by 5% in the first nine months of 2025, with the overall figure approaching $2 billion, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk said on Monday.
"Mongolia is an important trading partner for Russia. Our trade is growing. In 2024, it increased by 17.8%. This year, over the first nine months, we have seen nearly 5% growth. Overall, we are approaching $2 billion in mutual trade," Overchuk said on the sidelines of the Russia-Mongolia Regions Forum in Irkutsk.
For comparison, in 2020, trade between Russia and Mongolia amounted to $1.4 billion, he said, adding that 70% of Russia's exports to Mongolia consist of oil, petroleum products, and energy supplies.
"We have the capacity to further increase these figures. Above all, we see potential in expanding imports of Mongolia's traditional export goods to Russia - wool, cashmere, leather, and meat," the deputy prime minister said.
