The world is watching as Russian President Vladimir Putin continues his visit to India, where he is taking part in a two-day summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The official talks are scheduled to begin on December 4 at 6 PM IST.
This marks the 23rd annual Russian-Indian summit, continuing the long-standing tradition of alternating meetings between the two countries.
In the morning, President Droupadi Murmu and PM Modi personally received the Russian leader before the ceremonial welcome.
President Putin also signed the visitor's book of the Raj Ghat memorial complex.

Putin thanks Modi for his efforts to resolve Ukrainian conflict

The Russian leader said he had informed Modi of what Russia and the US were doing regarding possible peaceful settlement in Ukraine.
Putin called conversation with Modi on Thursday friendly and useful one.
He also pointed out that Russia and India have deep-rooted relations.

PM Modi: Glad to meet with Putin

The Indian PM stressed that the meeting with Putin is important event for him:
India supports speedy establishment of peace in Ukraine, necessary to work towards this together
India and Russia regularly exchange views on situation in Ukraine, which indicates deep trust between two countries
India is neutral country and stands for peace
Putin's role since 2000 speaks to foresight of his leadership, as evidenced by development of relations between India and Russia
Modi expresses hope that meeting with Putin will give impetus to economic cooperation between Russia and India
