Uralvagonzavod Concern (part of Rostec State Corporation) made waves at the XV International Forum "Arctic: Present and Future" by showcasing the legendary Vityaz two-section all-terrain vehicles—machines engineered to conquer the world’s harshest environments.
Built by the Vityaz Machine-Building Company, these articulated giants have already proven themselves in the unforgiving landscapes of the Arctic, Antarctica, and Russia’s far north. And at this year’s forum, UVZ unveiled the full scope of their next-level capabilities.
The Vityaz vehicle lineup isn’t just rugged — it is built for extreme conditions. These machines carry payloads of up to 30 tons and operate confidently at temperatures reaching –50°C and below. They can travel up to 700 kilometers on a single tank of fuel and move easily through swamps, deep snow, rugged forests, and completely off-road terrain.
Vityaz vehicles reach speeds of up to 44 km/h on land and 6 km/h on water without any special preparation, while their ability to climb vertical walls up to 1.5 meters and cross trenches up to 4 meters wide demonstrates their extreme versatility.
Despite their power, they exert exceptionally low ground pressure at just 0.3 kg/cm², minimizing their impact on the environment. Engineered for maximum efficiency, the Vityaz family features a 1:1 payload-to-weight ratio, making them best in class among swamp-and-snow transport vehicles.
At the UVZ-Trans stand, visitors can see how Vityaz platforms transform from transport vehicles into full-scale mobile infrastructure. They can be equipped with excavators, cranes, drilling rigs, fire-rescue systems, and a wide range of universal technological modules. As representatives of Uralvagonzavod noted, these vehicles are far more than Arctic trucks — they are versatile technological platforms designed to reduce risks, lower operational costs, and solve complex tasks in remote and difficult-to-reach territories.
The Vityaz family has earned the trust of Russia’s largest oil and gas companies, as well as operators working in the most extreme climatic regions of the country, where reliable performance is not just preferred but essential.
With a specialized design bureau focused on articulated tracked machines and more than 40 years of experience in swamp-and-snow vehicle development, the Vityaz Machine-Building Company continues to evolve the platform. The team produces up to ten new vehicle modifications every year, consistently improving technology, maintainability, and ergonomics to meet growing customer demands.
