Russian air defense forces intercepted and destroyed 64 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) across multiple regions of the country overnight, according to a statement released Friday by the Russian Defense Ministry.
The ministry said the interceptions took place between 11:00 p.m. Moscow time (20:00 GMT) on January 1 and 7:00 a.m. Moscow time (04:00 GMT) on January 2, during what it described as a coordinated drone attack involving several regions.

According to the official breakdown, the largest number of UAVs—20—were shot down over the Samara Region. Air defense units also intercepted eight drones each over the Voronezh Region and the Saratov Region.

Seven drones were neutralised over the Moscow Region, including five UAVs that were flying toward Moscow. In addition, six drones were shot down over the Ryazan Region and another six over the Rostov Region.

The statement further noted that three drones were intercepted over the Tula Region, while two were destroyed over the Belgorod Region. Single UAVs were also downed over the Kursk Region, Kaluga Region, Penza Region, and the Tambov Region.
