BRICS Membership Contributes to Indonesia's Economic Self-Reliance: Foreign Minister
By joining the BRICS group of emerging economies in early 2025 Indonesia has been able to diversify trade partners and bolster economic self-reliance, Foreign Minister Sugiono said on Wednesday.
"A stable economic base strengthens Indonesia's position on the global stage and supports our sustainable active role. To maintain this role, Indonesia must be able to secure its own future. This is where economic self-reliance becomes critically important. Diversification of partners is carried out with an understanding of the need to reduce risks amid the instability and slowdown of our traditional partners' economies," Sugiono said in an annual address.
