The UAE is lobbying for a UN Security Council resolution that would authorize such action, the report said on Tuesday, adding that Emirati diplomats have called on the US and European and Asian countries to form a coalition to open the strait by force.The UAE is actively considering its military participation in securing the strait, as well as in mine clearance efforts, the report noted.According to the report, Abu Dhabi believes the US should occupy Iranian-controlled islands in the Strait of Hormuz, including Abu Musa Island.On February 28, the United States and Israel launched strikes on targets in Iran, including in Tehran, causing damage and civilian casualties. Iran responded by striking Israeli territory and US military facilities in the Middle East.The escalation around Iran has led to the de facto blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for deliveries of oil and liquefied natural gas from the Persian Gulf countries to the global market, and has also affected the level of oil exports and production in the region, driving up prices.
