The Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup stage — World Cup Tashkent 2026 — has concluded in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, from 10 to 12 April.
Russian athletes competed under neutral status (team AIN2), securing a number of medals in both individual and group events.
The standout performance of the tournament came from Maria Borisova, who claimed gold in the all-around, finishing ahead of reigning Olympic champion Darja Varfolomeev. She also took silver in the hoop final. Borisova is coached by Irina Gusarova.
Eva Kononova, competing in her first major international event, placed eighth in the all-around. In the apparatus finals, she finished fifth with the hoop and sixth with the ribbon. Her coach is Evgenia Eliseeva.
In the group competition, the Russian team — Alena Seliverstova, Zlata Remchukova, Nelli Reutskaya, Nicole Andronchik and Alina Proshchalykina — won silver in the five balls event and bronze in the routine with three hoops and two pairs of clubs. The team is coached by Anna Ustsova.
All the gymnasts represent the “Heavenly Grace” Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy, led by Olympic champion Alina Kabaeva, who remained in constant contact with the team throughout the competition.
Head coach of the Russian national team Tatyana Sergaeva highlighted the importance of international competition.

"The second stage went very well. Maria Borisova delivered consistent performances across all four apparatus in the all-around, and her result is well deserved. Eva Kononova handled her first major international competition with confidence. The group team only moved up from the junior to the senior category this year," Sergaeva told Sputnik.

She noted that it was crucial for Russian gymnasts to gain competitive experience at international events despite existing restrictions. Sergaeva added that further work is needed on the artistic components of their routines.
