The gunman, 25-year-old John Hinckley Jr., fired six shots, and one of the bullets ricocheted off the presidential limousine and struck Reagan under the left arm, puncturing a lung. The president was taken to George Washington University Hospital (designated an undesirable organisation in Russia), where he underwent surgery. He lost a significant amount of blood and was in a serious condition, but was released after 12 days.Forty-five years later, Trump was urgently evacuated from the Washington Hilton Hotel after shots had been fired inside the building.The suspect in the shooting was quickly apprehended by law enforcement officers, who wounded him during the arrest.
