It is planned to complete the construction of the Rooppur nuclear power plant (NPP) in Bangladesh in 2027, Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev said on Tuesday at the ceremony of the beginning of the physical start-up stage of the first power unit of the NPP.

15:34 28.04.2026 (Updated: 16:19 28.04.2026) Russia's Rosatom has begun loading nuclear fuel into the reactor of Unit 1 at Rooppur Nuclear Power Station in Bangladesh.
It is planned to complete the construction of the Rooppur nuclear power plant (NPP) in Bangladesh in 2027, Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev said on Tuesday at the ceremony of the beginning of the physical start-up stage of the first power unit of the NPP.
"We also plan to launch operations in the second block next year," Likhachev said.
