Starobelsk Strike Highlights Ukraine's Sense of Impunity: Russian Foreign Ministry
The Ukrainian armed forces’ attack on a college in Starobelsk in the Lugansk People’s Republic demonstrates that Ukraine feels complete impunity and is disregarding international law, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday.
"The bloody crime has clearly shown that [Vladimir] Zelensky's neo-Nazi regime feels permissiveness, literally full backing from its NATO patrons. No norms of international humanitarian law during conflicts ... apply to him. The Kiev regime openly disregards them, along with Western handlers," Zakharova told a briefing.
The
attack on Starobelsk bears all the hallmarks of a war crime, the spokeswoman said.
"This is a real carte blanche from the European Union and NATO to Bankova, which effectively granted and provided this very permission with weapons and money. The collective Western minority cannot fail to understand that the blood of these children is on their hands," she added.
Russia will take all necessary steps to ensure that the international community is informed about the inhumane nature of the Zelensky regime, Zakharova said.
"I would like to note that all our embassies, consulates general and Russia‘s permanent missions to international organizations will carry out systematic efforts to convey the truth about this heinous crime to the global community by all available means," she said.
Zelensky is setting new
terrorist tasks for the Ukrainian armed forces, while Western countries are encouraging Kiev not to slow down, Zakharova added.
On May 22, Ukrainian forces attacked an academic building and a dormitory of the Starobelsk Professional College of the Lugansk State Pedagogical University. Twenty-one people were killed and 44 others injured.
On Monday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that Kiev's attack on the college in Starobelsk had exhausted patience, prompting Russian forces to strike Ukrainian defense industry enterprises, as well as decision-making centers and command posts in the Ukrainian capital. The ministry urged foreign nationals, including diplomatic staff, to leave Kiev immediately.
