nternational Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi said on Sunday that the recent Ukrainian drone strike at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) jeopardised the key principles of nuclear safety.
"DG Rafael Grossi says yesterday's strike was a serious incident that endangered key nuclear safety principles," the IAEA stated in a post on X.
Grossi called for an end to attacks on nuclear facilities and warned about the real risk of a nuclear accident.
"Attacks on nuclear sites are unacceptable and must stop in order to prevent the very real risk of a nuclear accident that would benefit no one," the post read.
On Saturday, Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev said that a Ukrainian combat drone struck the turbine hall of Unit 6 and detonated. There were no casualties or critical damage to key equipment.
