The complex operation was performed using the Open Top method, in which equipment is placed into the reactor building using a high-capacity crane before the dome is erected, the statement said. This method has been refined by the Russian-Indian team during the construction of the Kudankulam NPP's second stage, the company added. The reactor vessel was manufactured at the Atommash plant, part of Rosatom's Machine Building Division, in the Rostov Region city of Volgodonsk. Weighing approximately 300 tonnes (661,4 pounds), it was delivered to the Kudankulam construction site in 2025. Following the installation of the reactor vessel, work will begin on mounting the main reactor equipment.Russian President Vladimir Putin has previously emphasized that the flagship Kudankulam NPP project will make a significant contribution to India's energy supply, helping to provide Indian enterprises and households with affordable and clean energy. Russia looks forward to new joint projects with India in the field of peaceful nuclear energy, Putin said earlier this month during a meeting with heads of leading global news agencies held on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Reactor Vessel Installed at Unit 5 of Kudankulam NPP in India: Rosatom
The nuclear reactor vessel has been installed in its designated position at the site of the fifth power unit of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant in India, which is being built with Russian participation, Russian nuclear power corporation Rosatom's engineering division said on Monday.
"The reactor pressure vessel has been installed in the design position at power unit 5 at Kudankulam NPP construction site," the statement read.
