Telegram Blocked in India During Medical Exams
India has temporarily blocked access to the messaging platform Telegram until 22 June 2026, coinciding with the resit period for medical entrance examinations, according to the National Testing Agency.
The National Testing Agency (NTA), which is responsible for conducting major entrance examinations for higher education in India, stated that the measure was introduced in the interest of maintaining public order.
“This measure has been taken in the interests of public order in response to the organised use of the platform by fraudsters to deceive candidates sitting the medical entrance examination on 21 June 2026,” the agency said in a statement.
In its statement, the agency indicated that the action was intended to curb cheating and protect the integrity of the examination process during this critical testing period.
Message-editing features, which allow users to alter existing posts, will remain restricted until June 30.
