China on Thursday successfully launched the fifth group of Weili Kongjian navigation satellites into orbit using the Kuaizhou-11Y13 solid-fuel carrier rocket, China Central Television (CCTV) reported.
The launch took place at 11:58 local time (03:58 GMT) from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwestern China's Gansu Province, the report said.
The mission marked the sixth flight of the Kuaizhou-11 launch vehicle, and the launch was declared a complete success, it added.
The Kuaizhou-11 rocket, developed by ExPace, a state-owned Chinese company under the China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC), is capable of delivering payloads of up to one tonne into a 700-kilometer (435-mile) sun-synchronous orbit. The rocket's payload fairing has a diameter of 2.65 meters (6.6 feet).
The first launch of a Kuaizhou-series carrier rocket took place in September 2013. Rockets of this type are primarily designed for commercial launch missions.
