Around 40 Indian Air Force Su-30MKI fighters have now been equipped with air-launched BrahMos missiles, with the rearmament programme continuing, Alexander Maksichev, co-director of the Russian-Indian joint venture BrahMos Aerospace, told Sputnik.
The Su-30MKI fighter is manufactured in India under a Russian licence by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. The Indian Air Force operates around 270 of the aircraft, including those supplied directly by Russia.
"The rearmament of Su-30MKI aircraft with BrahMos missiles is continuing. At present, 40 Su-30MKI fighters are already armed with these missiles," Maksichev told Sputnik at the Fleet 2026 International Maritime Defence Show.
He added that Operation Sindoor had proved the outstanding capabilities of the Su-30MKI–BrahMos combination.
