Russia Records Sharp Increase in Ukrainian Attacks on ZNPP: Rosatom CEO
The number and aggressiveness of Ukrainian attacks on the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) and the city of Energodar (also known as Enerhodar) have sharply increased since the beginning of June, Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev said on Monday.
"A very difficult week has passed. In general, since the beginning of June, both number and aggressiveness of attacks on Energodar, social infrastructure, and the plant's infrastructure have sharply increased," Likhachev said.
The plant remains in a safe condition thanks to the efforts of the plant's workers, Likhachev added.
Ukrainian forces have destroyed several buses, effectively hunting down public transport, he said. Under such conditions, shift changes at the plant have become a "military operation," conducted using cars.
"People are still doing everything to ensure the Zaporozhye NPP remains safe. And that is the case today," he added.
The attacks have also become more sophisticated, Likhachev said.
