Russia Issues Message to US on Ukraine Military Aid: Foreign Ministry
Russia has notified the United States of its position on military aid supplies to Ukraine, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday.
"The American side is also well aware of Russia's position regarding military aid and lethal weapons supplies, as well as the facilitation of the transfer of intelligence data to the Ukrainian armed forces by the US Armed Forces. We have consistently informed the Americans of this, and we began doing so even under the previous administration," Zakharova told a briefing.
The Russian side has repeatedly noted in its contacts with the US that the transfer of military equipment to Ukraine could have unpredictable consequences for regional and international security, the spokeswoman added.
The understandings reached in Alaska could become the basis for a final settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, Zakharova said.
"Unfortunately, we are seeing a certain 'drift' on the part of one of the parties away from the constructive results of that meeting [in Alaska], which, in essence, remain unrealised," the spokeswoman also stated.
