The Soyuz-2.1a rocket carrying the Soyuz MS-29 crewed spacecraft, which will take two Russian and one US astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS), has been rolled out from the assembly and testing facility and installed on the launch pad at Baikonur, a Sputnik correspondent reported on Saturday.
The rocket has been installed at Launch Site No. 31 at the Baikonur Cosmodrome. The launch is scheduled for July 14.
This time, the Soyuz-2.1a rocket features posters marking the 80th anniversaries of the Rocket and Space Corporation Energia (which manufactures Soyuz spacecraft) and the Iskra Machine-Building Design Bureau (the producer of the spacecraft’s emergency escape system).
The rocket also displays drawings by children with cancer who are supported by the Unity Foundation, along with several advertising posters.
The main crew of the spacecraft includes Roscosmos cosmonauts Pyotr Dubrov and Anna Kikina, along with NASA astronaut Anil Menon. The backup crew consists of Russian cosmonauts Konstantin Borisov and Dmitry Petelin, and US astronaut Deniz Burnham. The orbital mission is expected to last 261 days.
