Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) said it had prevented a large-scale Ukrainian attempt to strike Russian military airfields using FPV drones.
The planned attack targeted the Ukrainka airfield in the Amur region and the Shagol airfield in the Chelyabinsk region, but was thwarted following intelligence obtained in advance, according to the FSB.
Ukrainian special services had used drones and balloons to deploy FPV drones into Russia’s Bryansk region, the security service said.
The drones were equipped with artificial intelligence-based control modules designed to resist electronic warfare countermeasures, with components produced in the UK, the United States, Canada and Sweden, it added.
The FSB added that those involved in the attempted attacks, including operatives and their accomplices, had been detained.
