20:19 18.07.2026 (Updated: 21:01 18.07.2026) Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a phone call with his UAE counterpart, Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with the two sides coordinating their positions on the situation in the Middle East, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Saturday.
"A coordination of positions on the situation in the Persian Gulf area was carried out in the context of the ongoing exchanges of strikes between the US and Iran. Both sides emphasized the importance of an immediate cessation of hostilities and the swift resumption of the negotiation process," the ministry said in a statement published on its website.
