Criminal Investigation Opened After Car Explosion Injures Head of Russian Drone Manufacturer
Russian investigators have opened a criminal case after a car explosion in the Sverdlovsk region left Vladimir Tkachuk, the head of a company that manufactures military drones, critically injured.
Tkachuk, general director of the "Uraldronezavod", was injured in the blast on Tuesday evening, according to Sputnik, citing emergency service sources.
The company is known for producing the Upyr, or “Ghoul,” first-person-view drone.
“One person was injured in a car explosion in the Sverdlovsk region. The victim may be Vladimir Tkachuk, the director of the enterprise that manufactures the Upyr FPV drone,” an emergency services representative told the agency.
Investigators have launched a criminal investigation into attempted murder carried out by a method that endangered the public.
Tkachuk was taken to intensive care, where doctors are fighting to save his life.
“He is alive and remains in intensive care,” the source said.
