The politician's statement came amid a publication in the Berliner Zeitung newspaper stating that the European Commission is unable to assess the financial burden on EU countries due to a new 90 billion euro ($103.8 billion) loan to Ukraine for 2026-2027. He noted that Berlin has already allocated over 100 billion euros to Kiev in bilateral aid. This amount should also include Germany's share of EU funds allocated to Ukraine, which currently stands at 216 billion euros, Frohnmaier said.

German Politician Calls on German Gov’t to End Unlimited Funding for Ukraine
Markus Frohnmaier, a member of the parliament from the opposition Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, called on the German government to define the limits of its support for Kiev and respond to Ukrainian attacks against German critical infrastructure.
The politician's statement came amid a publication in the Berliner Zeitung newspaper stating that the European Commission is unable to assess the financial burden on EU countries due to a new 90 billion euro ($103.8 billion) loan to Ukraine for 2026-2027.
"The Federal Government must finally explain when the financial and political limit of Germany's support [for Kiev] will be reached. The Federal Government cannot, on the one hand, continually make new commitments worth billions to Kiev, while, on the other, pretending that an alleged attack by Ukrainian government agencies on our critical infrastructure will have no consequences," Frohnmaier said on X on Tuesday.
He noted that Berlin has already allocated over 100 billion euros to Kiev in bilateral aid. This amount should also include Germany's share of EU funds allocated to Ukraine, which currently stands at 216 billion euros, Frohnmaier said.
