Russia to Open First 'Made in Russia' National Pavilion in India
The Russian Export Center (REC), part of VEB.RF Group, will open its first permanent “Made in Russia” national pavilion in India on August 21, 2026, as Moscow looks to expand non-energy exports and deepen commercial ties with one of its key Asian partners.
The pavilion will be located in Belapur’s Central Business District in Navi Mumbai and will become the seventh overseas pavilion under the program and the first of its kind in India. The opening is being supported by Russia’s Ministry of Industry and Trade and Ministry of Agriculture.
India is considered one of the priority markets for Russian non-resource, non-energy exports. According to Russia’s Industry and Trade Ministry, shipments of such goods to India increased by 40% in the first quarter of 2026.
Overall bilateral trade could reach 5.6 trillion rubles in the current financial year and rise to 8.1 trillion rubles by 2030, according to estimates cited by the Russian Embassy in India.
However, energy products still account for around 90% of Russian exports to India, leaving Moscow seeking ways to diversify trade. The new pavilion is intended to help Russian producers gain a stronger foothold in sectors beyond oil and other commodities.
The Navi Mumbai facility will provide Russian companies with infrastructure to showcase food products, cosmetics, consumer goods and high-tech solutions. Exporters will also be able to organize product tastings, hold negotiations with Indian distributors and explore opportunities on local e-commerce platforms.
Rai Family will operate the pavilion and provide services including logistics, customs clearance and marketing support.
Among the first Russian companies expected to join the pavilion are Makfa, United Confectioners, Tatspirtprom, Miratorg, Afanasy Private Brewery, Fame Label, Wild Siberia and Stashevskoye Bio, along with other export-oriented businesses.
REC Vice President Alexey Solodov said that non-resource goods currently account for only about 10% of Russian exports to India, making the pavilion an important step toward diversifying bilateral trade.
He said the project would give Russian manufacturers a direct entry point into a market of more than 1.4 billion consumers and help them establish long-term relationships with Indian partners.
Rai Family Chairman Oleg Kalaev said the Indian market is undergoing significant transformation and argued that Russian companies entering the country now could benefit from an early-mover advantage.
The India pavilion will make the country the eighth market where the “Made in Russia” national pavilion initiative operates. Similar facilities are already active in China, Vietnam, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Egypt.
Together, the existing pavilions showcase more than 3,300 products from over 180 Russian manufacturers.
The Russian Export Center is a state-backed institution focused on supporting Russia’s non-resource, non-energy exports. It provides financial and non-financial assistance to companies entering international markets and oversees the implementation of the “Made in Russia” program.
