Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Georgy Borisenko and Ambassador of Oman to Russia Hamood Salim Abdullah Al Towaiya called for a swift diplomatic resolution of the situation in the Persian Gulf, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.
"During the conversation, an exchange of views was held on the situation in the Persian Gulf region, with an emphasis on the need to quickly find mutually acceptable solutions through political and diplomatic means, based on international law and taking into account the legitimate interests of all countries in the region," the statement said.
The parties also discussed current issues related to the traditionally friendly relations between Russia and Oman, including maintaining an active political dialogue and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in the trade, economic, and cultural‑humanitarian spheres.
Both Russia and Oman share a common position on the importance of ensuring freedom of international navigation, the ministry added.
