Russia and Ukraine exchanged prisoners of war in a 103‑for‑103 format, the Russian Defence Ministry said on Wednesday.
"On August 19, a total of 103 Russian military personnel were returned from the territory controlled by the Kiev regime. In return, 103 Ukrainian prisoners of war were handed over," the statement read.
The returned Russian soldiers are now in Belarus, and Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova is working with them, the ministry said.
"The United Arab Emirates provided humanitarian mediation efforts for the return of Russian military personnel from captivity," the ministry added.
