Russia, Egypt Discuss Potential Cooperation on Floating Nuclear Power Plants: Rosatom CEO
18:29 25.08.2026 (Updated: 18:30 25.08.2026) Russia and Egypt are discussing possibilities of cooperation on floating nuclear power plants and on low-power nuclear power plants, Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev said on Tuesday.
Earlier in the day, Likhachev held a meeting with Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod.
"The issues of localization of floating nuclear power plants and low-power plants are being worked out," Likhachev told reporters.
Moreover, Russia and Egypt are discussing the financial and economic model of possible two
new El-Dabaa NPP power units, Likhachev added.
"We are already discussing the financial and economic model of the fifth and sixth blocks today. If we come to a common point of view, to a common understanding, we will report to the leadership of our countries," Likhachev told reporters.
