12:18 30.08.2026 (Updated: 12:20 30.08.2026) Around 7,000 foreign mercenaries from 70 countries, mainly Colombians and Poles, are currently fighting against Russia in Ukraine, Nikolai Plotnikov, head of the Center for Scientific and Analytical Information at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, told Sputnik.
"Around 7,000 foreign mercenaries are fighting against the Russian army. They are citizens of more than 70 countries, mainly from European and Latin American countries pursuing an aggressive anti-Russian policy," Plotnikov said.
