Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the full range of India–Uzbekistan relations during their bilateral meeting.India was Uzbekistan's ninth largest trading partner in 2025 after bilateral trade grew 30% last year to $1.3 billion.In the presence of the two leaders, several agreements and MoUs covering areas including mining, culture, education, tourism and Ayurveda were exchanged.The two sides also agreed on a Letter of Intent for the restoration and preservation of the Buddhist archaeological sites of Fayaz Tepe and Kara Tepe in Uzbekistan.Meanwhile, PM Modi was honoured with Uzbekistan’s highest state award for foreign leaders, the ‘Oliy Darajali Do’stlik’ Order.

16:33 30.08.2026 (Updated: 18:31 30.08.2026) India and Uzbekistan have agreed to elevate their bilateral ties to the level of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and set a target of increasing bilateral trade to $5 billion by 2030, Indian External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal on Sunday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the full range of India–Uzbekistan relations during their bilateral meeting.
"The discussions focused on expanding cooperation in areas including trade and investment, infrastructure, critical minerals, mining, defence and security, innovation, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, information technology, digital public infrastructure including UPI, and education," Jaiswal wrote on X.
India was Uzbekistan's ninth largest trading partner in 2025 after bilateral trade grew 30% last year to $1.3 billion.
"Particular attention was given to expanding industrial cooperation and implementing new joint projects," the Uzbek presidential office said in a statement.
In the presence of the two leaders, several agreements and MoUs covering areas including mining, culture, education, tourism and Ayurveda were exchanged.
The two sides also agreed on a Letter of Intent for the restoration and preservation of the Buddhist archaeological sites of Fayaz Tepe and Kara Tepe in Uzbekistan.
