The authority said bodies and human remains have been recovered across eight districts, including Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, Tanahun, Chitwan, East Nawalparasi and West Nawalparasi.The highest number of fatalities has been recorded in Chitwan, where 272 bodies were recovered, followed by East Nawalparasi with 207.At least 267 people have been injured in the disaster. Of those, 156 have been discharged from hospitals, while six surgical medical teams have been deployed to the affected areas to provide emergency treatment.Search-and-rescue teams have so far evacuated 10,451 people to safety. Nepal Army helicopters have carried out a total of 491 flights in support of rescue and relief operations.Around 20,899 personnel from Nepal Police, the Nepal Army and the Armed Police Force have been deployed as part of the emergency response. Authorities are also delivering food, medicines and other essential supplies to communities affected by the flooding.The disaster began on the morning of August 26, when a sudden surge of water and debris swept through the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa, causing widespread destruction across several districts.The floods have severely damaged settlements, roads, bridges and hydropower infrastructure.Preliminary assessments suggest that the collapse of part of a glacier near the Nepal-Tibet border may have triggered the flooding. However, authorities said an investigation into the exact cause of the disaster is still underway.
