16:17 31.08.2026 (Updated: 17:17 31.08.2026) Russia's production capacities allow for the production of more than 3 million cars annually, Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov said on Monday.
"We have modern facilities today to produce over 3 million cars per year," Manturov said during a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
The prime minister said that total automobile production in 2025 reached 830,000 vehicles, more than double the level of 2022 when unprecedented sanctions were imposed.
"After 2022, the state's main focus was on preserving enterprises, workforces and engineering expertise. This task can be considered accomplished," Manturov said.
He added that production sites of foreign companies that had left the country have been restarted.
"Along with launching new models on assembly lines, this has ensured the revival and production of cars in virtually all sought-after segments," the first deputy prime minister said.
Approximately 100 billion rubles ($1.1 billion) were invested in restarting these plants, with an even larger amount directed toward localization of auto components, he added.
