11:47 01.09.2026 (Updated: 12:53 01.09.2026) The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) countries are increasingly using national currencies in trade, their share in Russia's settlements with its partners in the organization is more than 98%, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday.
"National currencies are increasingly being used in mutual settlements between our countries, and their share in Russia's transactions with the organization's members is more than 98%," Putin said at a meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State.
Putin also called the strengthening of trade between the SCO countries one of the main tasks for the organization, adding that Russia's trade with the SCO countries exceeded $400 billion in 2025.
