Western countries' pressure restrains International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi in assessing who is attacking the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) with drones, Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev said on Wednesday.
"But these are the political patterns and the pressure that the West is exerting on the director general [of the IAEA]. So far they are being held back in personal assessments," Likhachev told reporters on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF-2026).
The radiation level and condition of reactors at the plant are under control, but everything must be done to restore the power supply in the coming days, the Rosatom head said, adding that the corporation is waiting for agreements, including through Vienna, to safely deliver diesel fuel to the plant and replenish reserve capacities.
Russia's pacific coast city of Vladivostok is hosting the EEF-2026 from September 1-4. Sputnik is a general media partner of the EEF.
