Northern Sea Route Ensures Safety of Int'l Supplies in Challenging Global Situation- Putin
The Northern Sea Route designed to ensure safety of international supplies in challenging global situation, amid risks to global shipping, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday.
"In today's challenging global situation, amid risks to global shipping and trade, it [Northern Sea Route] is intended to ensure the flexibility and security of international supplies, to open up new opportunities for transit and coastal shipping, and to facilitate uninterrupted northern delivery to the Arctic regions of Russia," Putin said at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF-2026).
Large infrastructure logistics projects require large-scale investments, Putin added.
"Large-scale infrastructure and logistics projects require substantial investments, which means that effective mechanisms are needed to support private investments, including those from our foreign investors and sovereign wealth funds," Putin said.
