"The Russian Helicopters holding of Rostec is presenting the Arctic Mi-38PS helicopter for the first time at the 16th International Integrated Security Salon in Kazan. The aircraft is designed for operation on the Northern Sea Route and has the longest flight range in its class," the statement read.The helicopter is designed for transporting up to 40 people and up to 5 tonnes of cargo on board, as well as performing medical evacuation, search and rescue and other missions.Its maximum flight range with additional fuel tanks exceeds 1,500 kilometers (932 miles), which is a record among Russian helicopters. This will allow the Emergencies Ministry to conduct operations at the maximum possible distance from the base of operations, Rostec added.Helicopters designed by the holding have demonstrated proven reliability in harsh conditions over the years, becoming an integral part of rescue aviation, Rostec said. The introduction of the Mi-38PS has expanded the Emergencies Ministry's zone of operation in the Far North, including in conditions of adverse weather and limited infrastructure.
