Indonesia does not want to submit to the dictate of one or two world powers and advocates strengthening the independence of developing countries, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said on Sunday.
"We do not like to be dictated to by any one or two powers. We must be resilient and then we become really independent," Prabowo Subianto said at a session of the BRICS+ summit in New Delhi.
The foundation of independence is the state's ability to provide for the basic needs of the population, including food, energy, education and opportunities to improve well-being, he noted.
Prabowo Subianto called on BRICS participants to unite national capabilities to strengthen food and energy security. The president emphasized that the association's countries account for about half of humanity, and each of them has its own strengths.
He advocated strengthening the role of the Global South in shaping the international order and creating a multilateral system that takes into account the interests of both strong and weaker states.
