The West's actions have convinced many that any agreements with it must be treated with caution, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Thursday.
"The way the West is conducting its affairs, I believe, has convinced many that one must be careful about any agreements with this group of states, which can instantly tear up all its agreements and disregard all its principles that it promoted for decades on the international stage within the concept of globalization," Lavrov said during the official opening ceremony of the 4th Congress of the International Russophile Movement.
Free market forces, fair competition, inviolability of property were discarded following the Western decision to support the Nazi regime that illegally came to power in Ukraine against Russia, Lavrov said.
There are many sensible people in Western countries who show interest in Russia, its culture, languages, and spiritual and moral values, the minister said.
Lavrov also noted that a decree by Russian President Vladimir Putin on providing humanitarian support to those who share traditional Russian spiritual and moral values was signed and came into force not long ago.
The program is in demand, including in countries where governments unfriendly to Russia are currently in power, the minister added.
