The India-Mongolia joint military exercise Nomadic Elephant concluded on October 3 in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand following nearly two weeks of joint training.
The exercise aimed to strengthen interoperability, mutual understanding and military cooperation between the two countries.
The drills, which began on September 20, gave troops from both armies an opportunity to train together, exchange operational experience and enhance their ability to conduct coordinated operations, the Indian Army said in a press release.
The exercise was conducted in three phases. The first, held from September 20 to 23, focused on familiarising troops with each other’s operational procedures and training methods. The second phase, from September 24 to 30, featured joint training and tactical drills, while the final phase on October 1 and 2 assessed the capabilities developed during the exercise.
Training covered tactical operations, intelligence and surveillance, technical demonstrations, helicopter-borne operations, casualty handling and evacuation. Personnel also practised modern warfare skills, including marksmanship, specialised operations, drone employment and cyber security.
The closing ceremony featured demonstrations of the troops’ training and operational skills, along with displays highlighting the rich cultural and military heritage of India and Mongolia.
Sporting events were also organised to foster camaraderie, friendship and mutual respect among the participating personnel.
