16:02 04.10.2026 (Updated: 16:15 04.10.2026) Following Vladimir Zelensky’s latest threats to target Russian oil refineries, Russian Defence ministry stated that its Armed Forces will escalate their operations against military, military-industrial, and related infrastructure targets in Kiev and across Ukraine.
"It is Zelensky who bears full personal and political responsibility for this," the MoD stressed.
Zelensky’s threats are a direct reaction to ongoing Russian retaliatory strikes on Ukraine’s military-industrial complex, specifically facilities producing drones and missile weaponry used against Russia, the statement read.
The ministry listed a series of "terrorist actions" by the Urainian regime, including:
Election Interference: Attempts to disrupt the State Duma elections through targeted strikes on polling stations, which resulted in the deaths of six civilians
Massive Drone Attacks: An attempt to organise a massive attack involving over 1,600 Ukrainian strike drones aimed at civilian targets in Moscow between September 19 and 20.
Economic Sabotage: Attempts to disrupt the international economic forum in St. Petersburg in June 2026 using strike drones.
Belgorod Attack: A "deliberately terrorist" strike last night on residential areas in the city of Belgorod, which caused civilian casualties and damage to apartment buildings and private vehicles.
