Foreign Intelligence Services Use Russians to Carry Out Terrorist Attacks
Foreign intelligence services are using various pretexts, including blackmail, intimidation and threats, to try to force Russians to carry out acts of sabotage and terrorist attacks, Russian Interior Ministry spokeswoman Irina Volk has said.
Volk said that in the digital age, methods of deception are becoming increasingly sophisticated: meeting someone online, transferring money or carelessly revealing personal information can lead to unpredictable consequences.
"It is no secret that foreign intelligence services are attempting to carry out sabotage and terrorist attacks in our country. And they seek to do so through our fellow citizens, whom they persuade, under various pretexts, to carry out their tasks," she told reporters.
Volk added that sometimes this marks the beginning of a criminal scheme in which the adversary uses deception, threats, blackmail and psychological pressure.
