In a series of posts last week, Space X CEO Elon Musk referred to Reliance chairman Mukesh Ambani as the “Prime Minister” of India.
ndia’s Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has reacted to Elon Musk’s claim that the Indian billionaire conglomerate was blocking Starlink’s entry into the India market.
In a statement posted on its X account on Friday morning, Reliance asserted that it has “never feared competition”.

“We welcome competition in satellite communications, including Starlink. Every player, (Reliance) Jio included, must serve the people of India and abide by the laws and policies of the land,” the statement read.

It noted that Reliance Jio’s own satellite services were awaiting clearance from the Indian government.
The statement noted that Jio, Reliance digital and telecom arm, had gained over 530 million Indian subscribers since its launch in 2016. It added that the company has been able to create some of the best digital infrastructure in the world.
Further, Reliance reminded Jio that clearances were being allowed strictly on the rule of law.
“As the Government of India has stated, it applies the same process to every applicant, Indian or foreign. Jio's own satellite services await clearances,” it stated.
