'Historic': Putin's Special Envoy Reacts on Trump's Waiver of New Sanctions on Russia
The decision of the Trump administration not to enforce the provisions of the new sanctions law against Russia was described as an important and historic step by Kirill Dmitriev, head of Russia's state investment fund RDIF and the President's special representative for economic cooperation with foreign countries.
The Graham law could have almost completely halted economic cooperation between the two countries, Dmitriev wrote on Telegram, and this would have caused serious damage to the American economy and global markets.
"Instead of sanctions and confrontation, there should be dialogue, mutually beneficial cooperation and shared responsibility for global stability," Dmitriev said, emphasising dialogue and cooperation.
He said that economic cooperation between Russia and the United States is in the interest of both countries. It also creates a basis for bringing stability to the global economy, strengthening mutual trust and achieving lasting peace.
