Russia-Gulf trade surges 45% in 2025: Lavrov
Russia’s total trade turnover with the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) increased significantly last year, rising by 45%, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.
“By the end of last year, Russia’s total trade turnover with the member states of the Council had increased by 45%,” Lavrov said during the ninth ministerial meeting of the Russia–Gulf Cooperation Council Strategic Dialogue.
The minister emphasised that the positive momentum in bilateral business ties was supported by the implementation of a joint multilateral action plan for 2023–2028, adopted following the sixth ministerial meeting of the Russia–GCC Strategic Dialogue in Moscow.
Lavrov also noted that successful trade and economic cooperation was closely linked to regional security.
“The effectiveness of our economic cooperation depends to a considerable extent on regional stability,” he said.
The previous meeting in this format, held at foreign minister level, took place in Sochi in September 2025. The GCC comprises six Arab states: Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar.
