Speaking at the ninth Russia-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Strategic Dialogue in Manama, Bahrain, Lavrov called for direct talks between Gulf states and their neighbours, including Iraq and Jordan, to help ease regional tensions and prevent further escalation.He also suggested that the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the United Nations Security Council could be involved in efforts to facilitate dialogue and strengthen regional security.The Russia-GCC Strategic Dialogue provides a platform for Russia and Gulf countries to discuss regional and international issues, as well as prospects for political and security cooperation.

Russia is working to prevent a major war in the Gulf region, where security is of critical importance, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said on Sunday.
Speaking at the ninth Russia-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Strategic Dialogue in Manama, Bahrain, Lavrov called for direct talks between Gulf states and their neighbours, including Iraq and Jordan, to help ease regional tensions and prevent further escalation.
