The mayor said that between 8:30 p.m. (17:30 GMT) on October 21 and 4:00 a.m. (01:00 GMT) on October 22, 630 UAVs were flying toward the Moscow region. Most of them were destroyed by air defense forces on the distant approaches, while 163 were neutralized on the approach to Moscow.Sobyanin said that on the night of October 17-18, 512 UAVs were flying toward the Moscow region, of which 127 were neutralized on the approach to the capital. From the evening of October 13 to the morning of October 14, 493 UAVs were flying toward the Moscow region, with 180 destroyed on the approach. On the night of October 12-13, 417 UAVs were recorded, of which 65 were destroyed.The attempted attack on October 9-10 was also massive, as 403 UAVs were destroyed on the distant approaches and 25 near Moscow. On September 19-20, air defenses destroyed 1,600 drones, of which 450 were downed on the approach to the capital. The most massive attack attempt in the summer of 2026 was recorded on August 17-18, when 620 drones were flying toward Moscow and the region.The Russian Defense Ministry said that air defenses repelled overnight what appears to be one of October's most massive drone attacks, intercepting and destroying 808 Ukrainian drones nationwide. The absolute record for UAVs shot was set on October 18, when air defense forces neutralized 1,015 drones.
